16-bit DAC Squeezes Into 2- By 2-mm Package

Feb. 23, 2014
To meet demands for space-constrained designs, Analog Devices developed a 16-bit, single-channel, digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that comes in 2- by 2-mm, 8-lead LFCSP package or a 10-lead MSOP.

To meet demands for space-constrained designs, Analog Devices developed a 16-bit, single-channel, digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that comes in 2- by 2-mm, 8-lead LFCSP package or a 10-lead MSOP. The DAC, the newest member of the nanoDAC+ family, also is available in 14-, 12- and 10-bit options.
The AD5683R offers relative accuracy of ±2-LSB INL, suiting open loop applications, and a 2-ppm/°C, 2.5-V reference to remove temperature-calibration requirements. In addition, 2-mV total unadjusted error eliminates initial calibration. A 4-kV human-body model (HBM) electrostatic-discharge (ESD) rating provides system robustness.

The new DAC offers a pin-compatible upgrade/downgrade path for markets such as communications infrastructure, industrial process control, healthcare, and instrumentation. I2C versions will be available soon, says ADI.
