12-Bit ADC Cruises At 3.6 Gsamples/s

May 24, 2010
Dubbed the industry’s fastest 12-bit ADC, the ADC12D1800 specifies a sample rate of 3.6 Gsamples/s, reportedly 3.6 times faster than any other available 12-bit device.

Dubbed the industry’s fastest 12-bit ADC, the ADC12D1800 specifies a sample rate of 3.6 Gsamples/s, reportedly 3.6 times faster than any other available 12-bit device. Forecasting the next generation of software-defined radio architectures and apps, the device raises performance bars with a -147-dBm/Hz noise floor, 52-dB noise power ratio, and an intermodulation distortion figure of -61 dBFS. In addition to the ADC12D1800, two other ADCs hit the market: the ADC12D1600 with a sampling speed up to 3.2 Gsamples/s and the ADC12D1000 with performance up to 2.0 Gsamples/s. All three ADCs are sampling now with production quantities available in the third quarter. NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 272-9959.
