EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, San Jose, CA. - Emerging as the most powerful member of the company's PowerPC line of embedded processors, the 460EX addresses end-user demands for higher levels of connectivity, security, and network management. Built on the Power Architecture standard and 90-nm CMOS technology, the processor handles a wide range of high-performance applications including multifunction printing, networking, home gateway, and general embedded processor requirements. Users can expect a significant increase in performance, memory capacity and bandwidth, standards-based connectivity, reduced power dissipation, and accelerated security processing. Additionally, the 460EX is instruction-set compatible with all other Power Architecture devices and applications. Features include a frequency range from 667 MHz to 1.2 GHz with 2 Dhrystone MIPS/MHz, 32-KB instruction set and cache, a 256-KB L2 cache, 64 KB of memory mapped SRAM, and support for up to 16 GB of DDR2 SDRAM.
