Boasting of a combination of high efficiency, good audio quality, small size and low-cost/W, the ZXCD1000 Class D switching amplifier controller IC provides an efficiency greater than 90%. Offered in a thermally enhanced, 16-pin package, the amplifier is said to produce less heat than comparable Class A/AB/B linear amplifiers with efficiencies from 50% to 65%. Other features include a THD+N of 2% typical open loop or less than 0.1% typical with a 10 dB feedback loop. Price is $1.50 each/10,000. ZETEX, INC., Hauppauge, NY. (631) 360-2222.
