HDD OEMs Get First 28nm Read Channel

Dec. 23, 2011
Forecasting greater capacity, higher yield, and lower power consumption for hard-disk drives (HDDs), the RC5100 breaks out as the industry's first 28-nm read channel.

Forecasting greater capacity, higher yield, and lower power consumption for hard-disk drives (HDDs), the RC5100 breaks out as the industry's first 28-nm read channel. The device features a unique low-density, parity check iterative decoding architecture that enables a higher areal density. Other features include support for low-power management functions and shingled magnetic recording, a technology for achieving next-generation areal density points. The TrueStore RC5100 will likely be available in the first quarter of 2012. LSI LOGIC CORP., Milpitas, CA. (800) 372-2447.
