HDMI Encoder Handles LVDS Output On Latest Processors

April 27, 2010
The CH7036 HDMI encoder converts LVDS inputs into HDMI, DVI, or VGA video outputs.

Interfacing with low-power processors that rely on LVDS video outputs, i.e., Intel's N450, D410, and D510 Atom processors, the CH7036 HDMI encoder converts LVDS inputs into HDMI, DVI, or VGA video outputs. The device also provides an output that retransmits data in LVDS format to a display with one of the external video outputs enabled. The CH7036 has a single-channel LVDS receiver and transmitter that is compatible with resolutions up to 1,366 x 768. Its integrated frame buffer scaler and HDMI/DVI encoder support output resolutions up to 1080p. Other features include three 10-bit DACs, CEC support, a two-channel SPDIF, and an I2S digital audio output. Available in an 88-pin QFN package, samples are on tap now with production coming in July. Price is $4.50 each/10,000. Chrontel Inc., San Jose, CA. (408) 383-9328.
