Designed specifically for printer interface applications, the SN74LVCE161284 is claimed as the industry’s first IEEE 1284 interface solution that meets the IEC 61000-4-2 standard for ESD protection. The chip provides ±15 kV of human body model, ±8 kV contact, and ±15 kV of air-gap discharge protection on the connector interface pins. Other features include IOFF and power-up 3-state to support hot insertion, a PMOS transistor to prevent back-drive current, hysteresis on all inputs, and an auto-power-up feature which prevents errors when the printer is turned on. Similar to other 1284 devices, a flow-through pinout is employed to optimize circuit layout. Available in 48-pin SSOP (DL) and TSSOP (DGG) packaging, price is $2 each/1,000.
