Targeting the read-channel designs in the emerging CD/DVD-writable optical-storage market, the EL6261C is an eight-channel, switchable-gain preamplifier designed to amplify read channel photo detector diode currents. The chip also performs buffering and gain-switching functions simultaneously. The device contains four, 20-MHz and four 80-MHz transimpedance amplifiers. All eight amplifiers have selectable 8K, 15K or 40K gain control.
