SerDes Chipset Eliminates External Interfaces

April 27, 2010
Via a patent-pending, full-duplex control scheme, the MAX9259 and MAX9260 SerDes chipset eliminates the need for a separate CAN or LIN interface in automotive apps.

Via a patent-pending, full-duplex control scheme, the MAX9259 and MAX9260 SerDes chipset eliminates the need for a separate CAN or LIN interface in automotive apps. The chipset forms a complete bidirectional digital-video link over a single dc-balanced twisted-pair or differential line. Additionally, the devices offer programmable spread-spectrum modulation to reduce EMI and allow isolation between the serializer and deserializer through ac coupling. The MAX9259 operates from a 1.8V core supply and the MAX9260 operates from a 3.3V supply. Both devices provide a separate input supply for interfacing to 1.8V to 3.3V logic levels. Both devices come in 64-pin TQFPs measuring 10 mm x 10 mm. Prices start at $4.95 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
