Tooled for the MP3 media player market, the PP5022 system-on-chip (SoC) addresses next-generation, hard-disk-based players while the PP5024 system-in-package (SIP) meets requirements for high-capacity, flash-based units. The PP5022 employs a unique parallel processing architecture with optimized firmware that allows for lower clock rates and core voltages that promise to triple battery life. Decoding at 160 kb/s typical requires less than 25 mW. Other features include a 1V to 1.2V core, dynamic load balancing, clock gating, and support for 1.8V SDRAM. The PP5024 integrates a media processor, I/O controllers, analog audio, and power management functions. Analog features include a stereo d/a converter, 40 mW headphone amps, five voltage regulators, two switching regulators, one 15V backlight driver, 10-bit a/d converter, li-ion battery charger, 128-bit fuse array, real-time clock, analog audio mixer, and a microphone input.
