Designed to meet multimedia data storage and transmission requirements of next-generation home entertainment systems including PC and Macintosh media centers, the Cypher 7108 system-on-chip (SoC) encodes MPEG 4/2/1, H.263, and MJPEG video from direct RGB Bayer and full D1 CCIR-656/601 YUV video sources. The device also supports Dolby Digital AC-3, MPEG-1, and two-layer 1 and 2 audio encoding. It employs a third-generation encoding architecture with a 166-Mhz MIPS CPU, DDR 32-bit memory interface, and interfaces for ATAPI, Ethernet, PCI, HPI, USB 2.0 (OTG), I2C, and I2S. In addition to supplying advanced scene change detection, the chip includes de-noise filters, a video preview engine, seamless A/V synchronization, and video-source error handling capabilities. Other features include the ability to handle MPEG-4 advance profiles and DivX certification. WISCHIP INTERNATIONAL, San Jose, CA. (408) 526-1000.
