Believed to be the market's fastest and most integrated system on chip (SoC) for office color printers and imaging products, the TAKPRO-800 integrates all system, networking, compression, and communications functions, including an ARM 946E 32-bit CPU with 8 KB of data cache and 8 KB of instruction cache. Claiming another first, the device includes both tandem and multi-pass laser print engine interfaces, as well as a full imaging pipeline optimized for multi-function peripherals (MFPs). The SoC processes up to 40 ppm color and 160 ppm back/white at a resolution of 600 dpi from laser printers and can achieve resolutions of up to 4,800 dpi. For laser copiers, performance is 25 ppm color and 70 ppm black/white. Other features include a JBIG coder/decoder, an RLE decoder that processes colors at a one byte per clock rate, an open print engine interface that supports direct video print output with 0.125-pixel precision, internal or external video clock generation, and a bit rate up to 280 Mb/s per channel. The TAKPRO-800 will sample in July in a standard BGA package. The TAKRDK development kit is also available that supports reference designs for print and copy applications, including APIs, VxWorks-based firmware, and drivers.
