The TXB0104 and TXS0104E bi-directional voltage-level translation devices promise to improve connectivity between next-generation processors and peripheral devices. Eliminating the requirement for direction control signals used by traditional voltage-level translation devices, the devices decrease the complexity of control software and save GPIOs on core processors. The 4-bit TXB0104 provides universal low-voltage bidirectional translation between any of the 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V nodes and is suitable for applications such as SD card interfaces via SD 1-bit or SPI modes. For open drain applications, i.e., I2C or MMC card interfaces, the 4-bit TXS0104E employs two separate configurable power-supply rails and provides pull-up resistors. Available in SOIC (D), TSSOP (PW), and QFN (RGY) packages, as well as a 12-ball BGA (ZXU), prices for the TXB0104ZXUR and TXS0104EZXUR are $1.21 and $1.41 each/1,000, respectively.
