Debuting as the smallest VGA CameraChip sensor, the OV7690 1/13" VGA sensor features the latest generation of the company’s proprietary pixel architecture, OmniPixel3-HS, which reportedly delivers almost double the sensitivity and low-light performance (960 mV/Lux-sec) of similar devices. The 1.75-micron OmniPixel3-HS architecture combined with a non-linear micro lens shift technology enables a significant reduction in distance between the sensor and the lens, thereby reducing module height. The result is a camera module measuring 4.5 mm x 4.5 mm x 2.8 mm. The OV7690, currently sampling in a CSP3 package, will be available in volume production during the third quarter.
