Tianma NLT America (TNAM) has developed an autostereoscopic display system crafted by NLT Technologies that optimizes parallax from an arbitrary viewpoint to reduce 3D crosstalk and display motion parallax. Smooth and realistic 3D images—without the use of glasses—are possible with the new 3D eye-tracking system. It combines NLT’s “Truly Realisitc 3D imaging” (TR3i-2) 3D image-processing engine with TNAM’s “Horizontally x Density Pixels” high-density autostereoscopic display method, along with an eye-tracking device that accurately detects the observer’s eye position. To minimize image reversal and still achieve a high-density 3D image, NLT incorporated a two-view 3D display with HxDP technology (an autostereoscopic display system that achieves high-density 3D images with a unique pixel alignment), as well as the TR3i-2 and an eye-tracking device. The system monitors the observer’s eye positions, and varies binocular parallax based on the viewing angle without decreasing the 3D image’s density. The TR3i-2 converts stereo images, optimized for the autostereoscopic display’s characteristics, to correspond to the observer’s eye position that’s detected by the eye-tracking device. With the TR3i-2, 3D images can be comfortably viewed without ghost or reverse-image problems.
