Clocking in as the first instrument that can perform both RF and interoperability tests to Bluetooth SIG specifications, the R4870 employs the company's proprietary WMT architecture to help enable it perform output power, power control, modulation characteristic, initial carrier frequency tolerance, and receiver sensitivity tests. The unit also has the ability to automatically test Bluetooth modules via an embedded host control interface (HCI). Built-in Bluetooth test cases execute sequentially with a color-coded pass-or-fail indication upon completion. Frequency resolution is 1 kHz and level resolution is 1 dB for transmitter testing over a frequency range from 2.402 GHz to 2.480 GHz. During receiver tests, the instrument covers a frequency range from 300 kHz to -300 kHz and measures power levels from -15 dBm to +23 dBm on channel one. The R4870 has a 12" color touch-panel display, measures 16" x 10" x 100", weighs approximately 33 lb, and is price at $24,800; delivery time is six weeks ARO. ADVANTEST CORP., Edison, NJ.
