Korean navigation device manufacturer Carpoint selected Focus Enhancements' FS455 TV-out encoder chip for its new seven-inch car navigation and personal media player combo. Consumers can connect Carpoint's auto navigation device, the Ultra Navi, to home TVs and other portable displays to play high-res video both on the road and at home. "We selected Focus' FS455 TV-out chip because of its superior performance, high video quality, and small size," Dong-Hoon Park, director of Carpoint's Korea sales headquarters, said in a statement. "With Focus enhancements' leading TV-out technology, our customers can bring the Ultra Navi into their living room to enjoy an enriched and engaging viewing experience." The Ultra Navi features a seven-inch, 800 by 480 LCD, the RMI Alchemy AU1250 CPU at 600 MHz, Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB), Traffic over DMB, and an FM transmitter. All Ultra Navi units will ship with Focus Enhancements' FS455 chip, and Carpoint anticipates adding Focus' TV-out functionality to the company's mid-range navigation models.
