Driver Powers Multiple HBLED Strings

May 14, 2010
The Smart Force SFD2C Series LED driver can simultaneously and efficiently power up to eight strings of high brightness LEDs (HBLEDs).

The Smart Force SFD2C Series LED driver can simultaneously and efficiently power up to eight strings of high brightness LEDs (HBLEDs). A full-function LED driver board, it features a dual output that provides a total maximum current of 1,200 mA, meaning 600 mA per side. Groomed for LED backlights utilizing larger HBLEDs, the driver can power up to four strings of HBLEDs per side with a maximum current of 150 mA per string. Other features include a wide input voltage from 10V to 20V, 60V maximum output voltage, total output power of 50W (25W per side), and onboard and external PWM dimming with dimming ratios up to 5000:1. The SFD2C measures 55.9 mm x 142.5 mm and is less than 15 mm high. Pricing is approximately $50 each in production quantities. ENDICOTT RESEARCH GROUP INC., Endicott, NY. (800) 215-5866.
