Compensating for poor cable retention associated with low-pin count FPC connectors, the 6298 series FPC connectors employ a front-hinged actuator whereby the connectors lock the flex cable into position. The actuator provides a tactile click-lock feel, verifying positive cable connection. Available in three- or four-position configurations, the connectors feature a 0.5 mm pitch, an overall height of 0.9 mm, and accept 0.2 mm thick flex circuits. Voltage rating is 50V maximum at 0.4A per pin and operating temperature range is from -25°C to +85°C. All connectors in the series are surface mountable and compatible with automated assembly equipment. Suitable applications include PCB-to-PCB and PCB-to-display connections in mobile and handheld products. Prices are $0.41 for three-position connectors and $0.47 for four-position connectors, each/10,000. For further information, contact AVX CORP., Myrtle Beach, CA. (843) 946-0414.
