Graphics Accelerator Remotely Operates LCDs And Touch Screens

June 1, 2000

The PCIX-690RP PCI video adapter card integrates a Chips & Technology's B69000, 64-bit graphics accelerator engine, 2 MB of video SDRAM, VESA DDC signaling, and a remote serial interface for touch-screens and flat panel displays. The Windows 95/98/NT-compatible card implements the flat-panel display industry's standard Transition Minimized Differential Signaling (TMDS) digital PanelLink interface to ensure high noise immunity and low emission over long cable lengths. The company says the card is unique in that both the LCD panel and touch-screen can be operated up to 33 feet (10 meters) from the host CPU without degradation of picture quality or touch-screen data. The card supports a wide variety of 3V and 5V monochrome and color setups, including single-panel, single-drive (SS) and dual-panel, dual-drive (DD) arrangements, high resolution passive STNs, and 36-bit active matrix TFT LCD panels. It supports SXGA display resolutions to 1280 by 1024. The card also offers a variety of programmable features to optimize display quality. In addition, horizontal and vertical stretching capabilities are available for both text and graphics modes for optimal display of VGA text and graphics modes on 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, and larger panels.
