IC Targets Mart For Low-Cost, High-Sample-Rate 8-Bit ADC

Sept. 1, 2000

Priced at $15 each/1,000 and dissipating only 310 mW, the SPT7721 is claimed to be the lowest priced and powered 8-bit A/D converter on the market. In addition, the ADC's flexible output interface allows digital outputs to be demuxed for either parallel-aligned or interleaved data output.
These price/performance characteristics, combined with a high sample rate of 250 MSPS, are said to qualify the SPT7721 ADC for use in automated test equipment (ATE), flat panel displays, portable solid-state projectors, and communication products, such as wireless local loops and wireless network equipment. The industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) chip comes in 44-lead TQFPs.
