The PGT 20326 2.5-Gb/s DFB/EA laser transmitter module is designed for long-reach transmission distances of up to 9,000 ps/nm. The module is intended for use in OC-48/STM-16 dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) applications in the expanded L-band window (1,565 to 1,610 nm). It contains an L-band distributed feedback (DFB) continuous wave (CW) laser monolithically integrated with an electro-absorption modulator (EA). This integrated configuration is said to simplify the design requirements for the overall system electronics. Features include a typical output power of -3 dBm and a typical bandwidth of 4 GHz.
