The LM4047, a low-profile display, uses flat-response-fluid (FRF) to provide stable contrast (without adjustment) over its operating-temperature range. The FRF also obviates the need for temperature compensation circuitry or manual adjustment of the contrast voltage commonly used on most LCD displays. This 2-by-16 alphanumeric LCD measures 74 by 19.5 mm and weighs 1.34 g (0.4 oz). It features 3-V DC or 5-V DC single-power-supply operation. Also, its operating temperature ranges from −20° to +70°C. In 1000-unit quantities, prices start under $9.
