A single-chip digital music player for high-volume markets, the AT85C51SND3 integrates two features for cutting-edge media players: USB on-the-go (OTG) and OLED color-display control. The USB OTG function allows users to connect via a USB key to peripherals such as MP3 players. The device supports OLED displays with up to 320 x 256 pixels and 260,000 colors. The chip employs a dual-processor architecture with an audio-optimized DSP and an 8-bit 8051 core. It is useable as a standalone player or as part of a system. Operation is from a 1.8V, 3V, or 5V supply with a power consumption of less than 35 mA. The decoder offers three options: the standard product (AT85C51SND3B1), the standard product with a 16-bit d/a converter (AT85C51SND3B2), and with a dc/dc converter and 16-bit d/a converter (AT85C51SND3B3). Price for a standard version is $4 each/100,000, and both a development kit (AT85DVK-07) and reference design (AT85RFD-07) are available for $500 and $150, respectively. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA.
