Easy, cable-free data transfer over short distances using IrDA technology is provided by a pair of new modules. Offering plug-and-play accessibility to infrared (IR) serial communications, the modules are designed to support half-duplex communications over a distance of up to four feet. Fitting directly into a control panel, Panel-IR module requires a 5V supply and allows users to pre-set baud rates at between 9600 and 115,200.In contrast, the EL-Link-IR module is housed in a self-contained, 9-to-25-way adaptor shell and is particularly well-suited for direct connection to equipment such as laptop computers. In addition, it requires no external power source and comes with a pre-set 9600 baud rate.
