Motion detection in printers, plotters, tape drives, positioning tables, automatic handlers, and other motion-control applications is provided by the HEDR-5300 two-channel quadrature incremental optical encoder. Supplied in a 16-mm package, the encoder mounts quickly and easily to a motor shaft using a self-aligning mounting boss.The unit features resolution of 160 counts/revolution, position accuracy of 25 arc-minutes, pulse-width error of 15 electrical degrees, and phase error of 8 electrical degrees, all typical. Output consists of two square waves in quadrature. The unit operates from 5V.
