Low loss and flexibility to optical metro networks is provided with the introduction of the Versalight family of optical networking products. These products deliver flexible wavelength routing and optical management solutions that enhance the transparency of optical networks. The family of products includes shelf-level, network-ready products that can be combined to create a complete system for the transport layer of the network. The system includes wavelength routing, optical add/drop nodes and optical performance management. Benefits of the system include: low cost per channel; low insertion loss; protocol transparency; small footprint; optical management speed/accuracy; network flexibility; and bi-directionality that is critical in limited-fiber settings and cuts equipment needs in half.
