Six new optocouplers combine a gallium-arsenide infrared emitting diode and a photo darlington output transistor in a DIP package to deliver a current-transfer ratio of 600% with a minimum input current of just 1 mA. The devices are based on a co-planar technology that provides a stable distance between input and output for maximum safety. The six devices offer a choice of single-, dual-, and quad-channel options in 4-, 8-, or 16-pin plastic DIPs, which are end-to-end stackable to within 2.54 mm. Pricing in quantities in excess of 50,000 pieces is $14.40 per 100 pieces for single-channel devices, $24.11 per 100 pieces for dual-channel devices, and $48.11 per 100 pieces for quad-channel devices.
