By using a spectrum of proven lighting technologies, the company's photo-optical system is said to illuminate and backlight displays with bright, uniform white light. The system is designed to provide OEMs using LCD displays with the ability to select the white light technology best suited to their needs. This white-light concept is said to make it easier for designers to obtain x-y color matching, uniformity in light output, and consistency of display in various ambient conditions. The miniature lighting technologies employed in the program include: SMT incandescent lamps; cold cathode fluorescent lamps; PCB, wedge-base, and bi-pin gas-filled lighting; white neon lamps; and silicone filter caps that convert the output of blue LEDs to photo-metric specifications within the entire spectrum of white light.
