Photodiode Families Target Broadband Applications

Targeting applications in 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Infiniband, VCSEL, and SONET/SDH OC48 and OC192 systems, two coplanar waveguide (CPW) photodiode families designed using advanced gallium arsenide (GaAs) and indium gallium arsenide

Targeting applications in 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Infiniband, VCSEL, and SONET/SDH OC48 and OC192 systems, two coplanar waveguide (CPW) photodiode families designed using advanced gallium arsenide (GaAs) and indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) fabrication technology provide a choice of single die or photodiode arrays. The photodiodes feature a 50_ characteristic impedance-matched design with 75-nm square anode and cathode pads that promise fast and reliable self-alignment for either wire-bond or flip-chip assembly. The LX3044 single, 10 Gb/s photodiode, LX3045 10 Gb/s 1 x 4 array, and the LX3046 10 Gb/s 1 x 12 array are designed using GaAsfor with an 850 nm wavelength. The LX3051 is a 3.125 Gb/s, 80-µm aperture device and the LX3050 is a 12.7 Gb/s, 32 µm aperture photodiode. And the LX3052 operates at 12.7 Gb/s with a 32-µm aperture in a 1 x 4 array. Bare die LX304x series photodiode prices start at $15 and 1x4 arrays at $50 each/1,000. LX305x bare die photodiodes start at $35 and 1x4 arrays at $250 each/1,000. MICROSEMI CORP., Irvine, CA.
