Photomultiplier Tube Lens Increases Anode Sensitivity & Relative Output

A new lens designed for firm's R5600U photomultiplier tube (PMT) increases the amount of incident light reaching its photocathode, thereby dramatically increasing anode sensitivity and the PMT's relative output. On the metal-packaged PMT, the hemispherical acrylic lens attaches to the entrance window and widens its capture area by a factor of 1.5. The lens produces a uniform improvement in both X and Y axes at all wavelengths above 300 nm within the spectral response range of the PMT.
