The GC4016 four-channel downconverter chip is a key building block for implementing multi-standard software defined radios for cellular basestation systems. Standards supported include GSM, IS-95, IS-136, and EDGE, as well as 3rd generation UMTS/CDMA2000. The digital receiver chip provides a true 5 MHz output bandwidth mode and an extended dynamic range with up to 24 output bits. Output data is bit-serial in format and compatible with most DSP chips. The GC4016 also supports nibble-wide SHARC link port interfaces. A 24-bit parallel data output option is useful for designs requiring high output data rates. The GC4016s configuration parameters are programmed through an 8-bit microprocessor interface. The chip operates from a 2.5V core, 3.3V I/O supply and is housed in a space-saving 160-ball plastic BGA. GC4011 single and GC4012 dual channel versions of the chip will be available later. GC4016 pricing is $34.07 each/10,000 and is available from stock.
