The Catapult C Synthesis accelerated library for Xilinx 65 nm Virtex-5 FPGAs features a pushbutton flow, delivering significant DSP Fmax performance improvements in the order of 50-80% over standard libraries, according to Mentor.

Mentor’s Catapult C synthesis tool performs efficient mapping to the Virtex-5 hardware resources, leveraging the XtremeDSP capabilities of the device. The results are designs that operate 50-80% faster than results previously achieved by any high-level synthesis tool.

The library improves user productivity by enabling easier access to the Virtex-5 FPGAs’ DSP-optimized features. It takes full advantage of the DSP48E processing block built into the FPGAs to build fast, area-efficient designs.
