Dubbed the industry’s fastest, the FXLA102 two-bit, low-voltage dual-supply auto-direction translator specifies a propagation delay of 5 ns and delivers a data rate of 80 Mb/s, reportedly twice as fast as alternate devices. It integrates automatic direction control, allowing the device to sense and control the correct direction for data flow without a control pin. This feature eliminates the need to program the GPIO for direction control and reduces the number of pins necessary for controlling the translator from 10 to eight pins. Additionally, the device measures 1.6 mm x1.6 mm. The FXLA102 employs lead-free terminals and meets moisture-sensitivity requirements as per the IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020. Price is $0.89 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA. (800) 341-0392.
