The FAN7310, a full-bridge inverter/ driver, integrates a pulse width modulation controller in a 20-SSOP package, offering an efficient, low part count solution for LCD backlighting applications. Working with input voltages from 5V to 25V, it supports analog, mixed, and burst-dimming modes of operation and incorporates a variety of circuit protection features. These include open-lamp regulation and protection, which shield the transformer from over-voltage during start up or when an open lamp occurs. Other features include an operating current of less than 4 mA, soft-start and feed forward functions, under-voltage lockout, and a synchronization circuit with an external signal. Price is $2.75 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA. (408) 822-2314..
