The latest addition to the company’s family of central packet switches, the 80KSW0006, forecasts higher bandwidth plus better configurability and more flexibility for mid-sized, next-generation cellular base stations. The device offers an optimized mix of port count, performance and power consumption for up to six 4x ports of 10G connectivity and sustained throughput for the full range of minimum and maximum packet sizes while providing power consumption low enough to eliminate the need for an additional heat sink in many applications. Moreover, the Serial RapidIO-based switch addresses the interconnect needs of embedded applications whose functionality is central to routing packets for distribution amongst DSPs, FPGAs or processors, other switches, or any other S-RIO-based devices. Available in a 676-ball BGA measuring 27 mm x 27 mm, price is $55 each/10,000. INTEGRATED DEVICE TECHNOLOGY INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 345-7015.
