Doubling the memory of its previous generation device to make possible smaller cellular telephones with more advanced features, EVRC PRO (Enhanced Variable Rate Codec) second-generation EVRC speech coding device for the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) market integrates a digital signal processor and voice codec on the same chip. The 72 Kwords of ROM is twice the amount of previous chips to give designers greater flexibility to offer functions such as voice recognition, noise reduction, and acoustic echo cancellation. The chip's 100 MPS processing speed at 3V makes it one of the fastest DSPs for cellular telephones.
