Controller IC Is 1394 Native Bridge Link

Sept. 1, 1998

A key part of a chipset that enables an ATA or ATAPI storage device such as a hard disk, CD-ROM, DVD or tape drive to be interfaced to a PC via the IEEE 1394 serial bus, the 39C1011 1394 Native Bridge Link Controller IC manages incoming and outgoing message packets between an ATA/ATAPI interface and a 1394 PHY, providing full data buffering, error correction and recovery. An internal state machine works under full control of a Texas Instruments TMS320C206 DSP for command decoding and resource allocation. Transfer rates are 100, 200 and 400 Mbits/s, depending upon the rating of the TI PHY.
