DAC Links DSPs To Audio Ports

Capable of sampling data at 16, 18, 20 or 24 bits, the AD1855 monolithic D/A converter is a multi-bit, sigma-delta modulator with dither, continuous-time analog filters, analog output drive circuits, and clickless volume control and mute. It achieves 113 dB of dynamic range and a signal-to-noise ratio (not muted) of 48 kHz (110 dB at 96 kHz). It also offers -97 dB total harmonic distortion and noise to provide perfect differential linearity restoration for reduced idle tones and noise floor in a variety of consumer and professional applications. The converter is well-suited for DVD players, digital car audio systems, surround-sound home theater systems, high-end CD players, and professional audio equipment. The AC1855 gluelessly connects to firm's SHARC family of 32-bit DSPs using the serial port or the I2S ports on the ADSP-21065L SHARC. It can also be used with any DSP, audio processor or decoder that outputs data in the I2S three-wire format.
