DSCs Deliver High PWM Accuracy

April 4, 2005
Combining the real-time performance of the company's DSPs and the ease of use of a MCU, the TMS320F2801, F2806, and F2808 digital signal controllers (DSCs) are optimized for motor control, digital power conversion, and intelligent-sensor control

Combining the real-time performance of the company's DSPs and the ease of use of a MCU, the TMS320F2801, F2806, and F2808 digital signal controllers (DSCs) are optimized for motor control, digital power conversion, and intelligent-sensor control applications. Peripherals include a patent pending PWM that provides 16 bits of accuracy in a 100 KHz control loop and 12 bits at 1 MHz. The F2808 also includes a 16-channel, 12-bit a/d converter with conversion speeds up to 6.25 Msamples/s. The controller's core architecture features a 32-bit wide data path and a mixed 16-/32-bit instruction set. According to the company, the F28x offers unmatched system integration for a controller of its class. It provides complete control system capabilities from signal input through signal output, enabling a single F2808 to control up to five three-phase motors. Available in LQFP or BGA packages, prices for the TMS320F2801, F2806, and F2808 are $4.95, $7.45, and $9.95 each, respectively. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
