Targeting the full spectrum of digital motor-control applications, ranging from multi-motor industrial systems to cost-conscious home appliances, are six new DSPs which are said to cut total system cost and development time in half and enable new end-equipment capabilities to increase energy efficiency and motor reliability. The new TMS320C24x DSPs support all motor types such as one- and three-phase ac, brushless dc, switched reluctance and stepper motors. They operate at 30 MIPS, allowing further implementation sensor control, dc link capacitor reduction techniques, noise and vibration reduction, PFC, and other techniques that reduce the cost, size and power consumption of end-equipments and enhance motor reliability.
