DSPs Serve Low- To Mid-Range A/V Applications

May 1, 2006
Texas Instruments' TMS320DA707 and TMS320DA705 are audio digitital signal processors (DSPs) for low- and mid-range applications requiring multi-channel decoding.

Texas Instuments is now offering two new Aureus digital audio processors for low- to mid-range A/V products.

The TMS320DA707 and TMS320DA705 are audio digitital signal processors (DSPs) for low- and mid-range applications requiring multi-channel decoding, such as A/V and DVD receivers, home-theater-in-a-box systems (HTIBs), set-top boxes, mini components, high-definition televisions (HDTVs), and automotive multimedia.

The DA707 and DA705 are based on TI’s Aureus product line, which consists of a 32/64-bit floating-point programmable DSP and software for multi-channel decoding applications.

The DA705 runs without external SDRAM, enabling OEMs to bring entry-level audio systems high-end features such as DTS 96/24 decoding with 96-kHz post-processing, ten-band graphic equalizer, 18 preset surround modes, and 7.1 channel output. The DA707 DSP natively supports off-chip SDRAM memory, enabling further customization and differentiation.

Both DSPs are backwards compatible with TI’s DA7xx and previous generation DA6xx devices, and pin compatible with the DA708. They are supported by TI's Code Composer Studio integrated development environment (IDE).
