Representing its fourth generation, the Virtex-4 platform debuts as the market's first FPGA family with multiple domain-optimized platforms to accommodate every price point. Exploiting the company's Advanced Silicon Modular Block (ASMBL) architecture, the family includes three platforms: Virtex-4 LX for logic, Virtex-4 SX for very high performance signal processing, and Virtex-4 FX for embedded processing and high-speed serial connectivity. Each platform offers a range of options, which includes up to 200,000 logic cells and speeds up to 500 MHz. Other features include a mix of core capabilities, such as logic, memory, parallel and serial I/O, embedded processors, DSP functionality, enhanced clock management, hard IP, mixed signal, and other function blocks for specific application requirements. Design and support tools are also available. For more information, call XILINX INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 559-7778.
