Helping car makers meet US and global safety requirements, the MMA6700EG and MMA6701EG low-inertia, two-axis intelligent sensors for electronic stability control systems offer a wide dynamic range and high resolution. The accelerometers employ the company’s next-generation high aspect ratio micro-electromechanical systems (HARMEMS) technology, originally for airbag sensing applications. HARMEMS technology provides over-damped mechanical response and promises better immunity to high-frequency, high-amplitude parasitic vibrations. The MMA6700EG is a ±3.5g, 11-bit device and the MMA6701EG is a ±5g, 11-bit sensor. Both feature selectable low-pass filters, an SPI-compatible serial interface, bi-directional internal self-test, on-chip DSP, temperature sensor, and voltage regulator, support for signed or unsigned output data, capture/hold input for synchronization support, ratiometric analog voltage outputs, 3.3V or 5V single-supply operation, an operating temperature range from -40ºC to +125ºC, and 20-pin SOIC RoHS-compliant packages.
