Promising to cut operating costs by up to 50% for ISP, enterprise network and other Internet access providers, the ADSP-21mod970 multiport Internet gateway processor eliminates the costly discrete systems needed to support multiple modem protocols. The 16-bit DSP can process any protocol on any of its six ports simultaneously. Each port can be configured on demand for ISDN, V.90, K56Flex, V.34, Fax and Voice over IP.The chip measures 0.24 square inches per port and consumes just 80 mW per port. Its 960 kbytes of on-chip SRAM allow software downloading of new protocols and/or features. ADSP-21mod970 comes in a 31 x 31 x 2.3 mm, 304-lead PBGA.
