Groomed for deployment in appliances such as fans and refrigerator compressors, the IR3103 motor driver is a half-bridge FredFET with an integrated gate driver that does not require a heatsink in applications up to 180W. The device can operate with a maximum input voltage up to 500V and in temperatures up to 150°C. Its 11-pin package features isolation ratings up to 1.5 kVRMS/min., and enables shorter inter-component connections to reduce EMI emissions. Other features include current ratings of 1A at 25°C and 0.75A at 60°C, an operating speed of 20 kHz, ESD protection on all leads, and a bootstrap diode for the high-side driver section. Design support is available via the IRADK31 demo kit that includes a 3-phase 250W motor drive system and graphical user interface software. The software can compare several motor control drive strategies for ac-induction motors as well as brushless dc components. Price for the IR3103 is $1.25 each/10,000.
