Meeting the thermal and budgetary requirements of high-speed applications, the EMC2101 and EMC2102 fan controllers employ the company’s resistance error correction and auto beta compensation techniques. The 8-pin EMC2101 for general-purpose temperature measurement maintains fan control with an 8-entry lookup table that relates fan drive to temperature set points associated with a remote temperature sensor reading. For flexibility, it allows for external temperature overrides to drive the fan and includes an option for loading set points from an EEPROM. The EMC2102, a thermally enhanced, 28-pin, lead-free fan controller, integrates linear fan control, four temperature sensors, and hardware shutdowns. The device includes shutdown logic and start-up safeguards that are software independent. Samples of the EMC2101 and EMC2102 are available now with production quantities set for the first quarter of 2007. Prices will be $0.95 and $1.75 each in OEM quantities, respectively.
