A new embedded software environment claims to speed up the time to market for cellular infrastructure devices and next-generation multi-protocol wireless applications. DelCore Universal Framework is a highly portable application software environment that simultaneously supports multiple, disparate protocols used in DSP-based applications. The DelCore delivers standardized interfaces, a simplified connection manager, and upper layer functionality on a DSP chip. The first standards-based, application-specific product developed under the framework is the IS-136 SoftRadio for suppliers of cellular base stations and handsets. A complete, cellular wireless protocol for both terminals and base stations, the product supports the North American TDMA standard.
