With 24 ports, which is the equivalent of a T1 communications line, theADSP-21mod980 is a high-density Internet access device that enables the convergence of voice and data networks. It's able to configure any of its ports for any protocol. Measuring about 1.9 in.2, the T1-on-a-chip is said to consume the lowest power and space per port of any comparable device. A universal software package provides V.90, K56Flex, V.34, ISDN, fax-over-IP and voice-over-IP protocols. Power consumption is just 60 mW/port with a 3.3V supply. The device processes at 600 MIPS speeds and integrates 2 Mbits of RAM. The 352-lead BGA costs $265 each/1000.
