Set forth as the industry’s first register for DDR3 registered dual in-line memory modules (RDIMMs), the SN74SSTE32882 supports rates of 800 mega transfers per second (MT/s) to 1,066 MT/s. The device, manufactured on a 130-nm process, also integrates a low-skew buffer with the register and a low-jitter phase-locked loop (PLL), which eliminates the need to tune the memory module. The 28-bit, 1:2 configurable buffer operates on 1.5V and can drive up to 36 SDRAM loads. Its edge-controlled circuit outputs meet SSTL 15 specifications and are optimized for terminated DIMM loads. Supporting industry-standard DIMMs, the clock and control outputs can be programmed with differing drive strengths. Other features include support for JEDEC parity features and spread spectrum clocking. The SN74SSTE32882 comes in a 176-pin BGA with 0.65-mm ball pitch (11 x 20 grit) and is sampling now with full production slated for the third quarter of 2007. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX.
